About the Queens Head

The Queen’s Head in Amotherby is an attractive Free House with a large car park and disabled access to all areas. With three real ales, Tetley’s, a Copper Dragon brew and a rotating guest ale The Queen’s Head is open between 5.00pm and 11.00pm every evening of the week and is a popular meeting place, well established in the community. Outside there is an attractive beer garden for those long summer days and there is an adjoining covered gazebo should the weather change! Children can enjoy a state of the art floodlit play area and all this forms the picture of the perfect family pub.  But it does not end there!

In Amotherby, something of a tranquil backwater, we at The Queen’s Head operate a most unusual and authentic Cantonese restaurant drawing people from miles around to enjoy our extensive menus. Five qualified chefs work to ensure perfection every evening and to this end they use fresh locally sourced ingredients.

The restaurant itself is recently refurbished and comfortable and as with the remainder of the building there is full disabled access.  With a capacity of 85 the restaurant is ideal for that special group celebration.  Equally via clever re-positioning of the bamboo screens we can create the perfect atmosphere for an intimate meal for two.

Many would say that there could not be a more unlikely setting for a busy Cantonese restaurant than Amotherby but we feel that it is this unusual setting coupled with our reputation for excellent food, quality and service that draws customers here in ever increasing numbers.

A warm Yorkshire awaits you at The Queen’s Head where there is a further unusual feature. We pride ourselves on operating one of the “greenest” if not the greenest catering establishment in the country. Geothermic heating takes underground heat for hot water and under floor heating, solar panels add to the heat even on a cold day, water saving flushes are fitted in the toilets, a waste heat drying room dries our laundry items, compressed air powers the beer pumps, and much of the lighting is low energy.

A most unusual place, The Queen’s Head at Amotherby is well worth a visit and we look forward to welcoming you when next you are in this delightful part of North Yorkshire.
